Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
1. Who is responsible
Ciaran Jenkins, CHANGE ME: street and house number, CHANGE ME: postcode and city, Germany.
Email: CHANGE-ME@example.com
2. The short version
- This website does not set any cookies and does not use local storage or similar technologies in your browser.
- There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no maps, no videos and no social media plugins on this site.
- All fonts, images and scripts are served from this website itself. No third party servers are contacted when you view a page.
- The only personal data you actively send us is what you type into the book order form, and only when you click "Submit".
3. Cookies
This site does not save any cookies on your device. For that reason no cookie banner is shown, and you cannot be tracked across visits by this site.
4. Server log files
When you open a page, the web server of our hosting provider automatically records technical data in log files: your IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, the amount of data sent, the browser and operating system information your browser transmits (user agent) and the referring page, if any. This is technically necessary to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable. We do not combine this data with other data and do not use it to identify you.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and working website). Log files are kept by the hosting provider for the period set in its own settings and are then deleted or anonymised.
Hosting provider: CHANGE ME: name and address of your web host. We have an agreement with the provider for processing on our behalf as required by Art. 28 GDPR.
5. The book order form ("Buy the book")
If you order the book through the form, we collect the details you enter: first name, surname, street and house number, postcode, city, country, number of books, email address, your optional comment (which may contain a phone number if you choose to add one) and your confirmation that you consent to the information being sent.
What happens when you click "Submit": the website automatically sends the information you entered in an email to the recipient of orders, Ciaran Jenkins. The email is sent from the web server of this website to the recipient's mailbox. The website itself does not store your entries in a database or file. The email arrives in the recipient's mailbox and is handled there like any other email. Because the address you enter is set as the reply address, the recipient can answer you directly with further purchase instructions.
Purpose: processing and delivering your order, contacting you about payment and shipping, and handling questions about it.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to and performance of a contract) and, for the transmission itself, your consent given by ticking the consent box, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by emailing CHANGE-ME@example.com. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Recipients: the recipient of orders named above; your address details are passed on to the postal or parcel service that delivers the book; payment is arranged by the follow-up email and the payment provider or bank involved will process the data needed for the payment. The email passes through the mail servers of the hosting provider and the recipient's email provider, which act as processors. Email transmission between servers is not always encrypted, so please do not put sensitive information in the comment field.
Storage period: we keep your order details only as long as needed to complete the order and to answer questions afterwards. Where German commercial and tax law requires us to keep business correspondence and accounting records, we keep them for the statutory retention periods. After that they are deleted.
Providing the data is voluntary, but without name, address and email address we cannot deliver the book.
The form is protected against automated abuse by a hidden field and a time-limited signed token. These work without cookies and store nothing about you.
6. Links to other websites
This site links to Instagram, Facebook and the website of O'Kellys Irish Pub. These are plain links: no data is transferred to those services when you view our pages. Only if you click a link do you leave this site, and the privacy policy of that website then applies.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You may withdraw consent you have given at any time. To exercise these rights, contact CHANGE-ME@example.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg (www.baden-wuerttemberg.datenschutz.de) or the authority of your own place of residence.
8. Changes
If the website changes, for example if cookies or analytics tools are ever added, this policy will be updated before they go live.
